Frontotemporal Dementia vs Alzheimer's Disease: GFAP (CSF)
Meta-analysis did not show a difference in the levels of glial fibrillary acid protein in cerebrospinal fluid of people with frontotemporal dementia and people with Alzheimer's disease. However, a paucity of data limited the meta-analysis, with only three eligible studies and a small number of subjects. For comparison, our meta-analysis revealed a non-significant trend towards lower levels of GFAP in the CSF of control subjects compared with people with AD.
